Hermes frowned. Damnit!
But he had an idea. It would strain every bone in his body, but he believed he could do it. He took a deep breath and grabbed the naga's hand before taking off along the ground, pulling the creature away before the bodyguard knew what hit him.

Aiden didn't know what exactly the winged boy was trying to do, but being dragged bodily in the exact opposite direction that he needed to go with pretty much his entire body weight pulled on one shoulder joint by a young man barely heavier than a toddler was definitely surprisingly. And rather painful, to be honest. He grit his teeth, swallowing a pained hiss as he tried to right himself, but the boy was moving too fast for him to do anything. Don paused mid-step, hearing the frantic fluttering of wings and the scrap of scales on stone moving away from him. The bodyguard spun on his heel, scowling. "Hold that thought." With that said, the large African-American crackled his knuckles and charged after the fleeing pair, a flicker of blue behind his glasses.

Hermes moved fluidly, pulling Aiden through the streets hoping to lose the bodyguard in the crowds. When he was sure they were safe, he slowed down and led the naga up to his flat, the entire place filled with piles of blankets and soft pillows. He tried to rub the creature's shoulder, knowing he probably pulled too hard. His eyes were apologetic, and he pushed the creature onto a pile of pillows, rubbing a smooth salve over his shoulders and locking the apartment door, as he usually did.
He tried to say "make yourself at home for the night", but it was useless with no voice.

Don growled in frustration, stomping his foot irritably. How the hell-? He lifted a hand to his glasses. "Package lost."
The naga winced as he struggled up the stairs, silently praying Don and the others wouldn't be mad at him or the winged boy as he fought to coordinate his long tail for climbing. His shoulder was throbbing, and his scaled behind wasn't too happy with him either, but it wasn't anything he hadn't managed to work through before. "You live here?" He entered cautiously, taking in the scattered mess, and couldn't help but think it suited the boy, and wondered if it were all as comfortable as it looked. A train of thought that was promptly derailed by the touch to his aching shoulder. He hissed in surprise and pain, rattle buzzing as he jerked away on instinct, pupils narrow slits as he pressed himself up against the wall.

Hermes flinched, recoiling. He didn't mean to hurt his friend! He looked at Aiden with what only could be the saddest puppy eyes on earth before he tried to motion that the salve would help him feel better.

It took several moments for the former-marksman to get hold of himself, forked tongue flicking out over his dry lips as he straightened, hating how skittish the animal instincts made him. "Sssorry..." He forced himself to pull away from the wall, wincing as he shrugged off his trenchcoat, revealing the black turtleneck he wore underneath. In trying to get the shirt off, however, he wrenched his shoulder more than it was willing to endure, and gave a gasp of pain.

Hermes moved in to help. As soon as he saw bare skin, his touch was as light as he was. He touched his skin gently, rubbing the cool lotion over it, letting it seep into his skin to sooth the pain.

Aiden did his best to keep still, his claws clenched into the bundled fabric of his turtleneck as the bird's thin fingers rubbed over the smooth gray scales that covered his back. It was something that still disturbed him about his changed body, the fact that almost everything was covered in scales, right down to his fingertips. Only his head, chest and abdomen were fully human, and even then, that was only in appearance. He gave a soft sigh when the pain began to fade, finally beginning to relax.

When he had done his best, he led the naga to a pile of pillows and offered him a place to rest, throwing a blanket on him.

The hybrid ducked the flung object with a startled squeak, flushing with embarrassment when he realized it was only a blanket. It had been a long time since something so utterly harmless was tossed his way, and with everything that had happened recently in his life, it was hard not to see everything fast moving as some kind of threat. He wanted to put back on his shirt, feeling exposed and vulnerable without it disguising his inhumanity, but he didn't want to hurt his shoulder anymore than it was. Just because he couldn't feel the damage didn't mean it wasn't there. Instead, he retrieved the blanket from the floor, draping it over his shoulders and giving Hermes a thin smile. "Ah, thanks, mate. Sorry 'm so skittish, hard not t'be..."

Hermes waved him off. He was a bird, he understood it completely. He started to flit around the apartment, doing what he could to make Aiden as comfortable as possible. Blankets and pillows were brought over, and he turned on the heat up a little so Aiden would be comfortable.

Aiden gave a soft laugh, watching the winged boy flutter around. He settled back against a mound of pillows, sliding down into a sitting position with his tail coiled loosely about his hips, shirt and coat draped across his lap as the gentle heat and rather eventful evening began to take their toll. Before he even fully realized he was tired, the naga had already dozed off, resting comfortably against the soft pillows.

The bird smiled and locked up for the night. He sipped a little bit of milk before deciding to curl up in the serpent's coils. He pulled a blanket around him and closed his eyes, starting to doze off.

Time passed, and the pair slept on, the naga shifting to eventually coil around the winged boy, basking in the bird's body heat. A shadow flitted by outside the window, one, two, three black-clad faceless figures that slipped inside without a sound, padding through the scattered blankets and pillows to the coiled mass of muscle and scales half-hidden in the darkness. Aiden shivered, giving a faint mumble of discomfort as the cool breeze from the open window washed over him, curling a bit tighter around the sleeping bird-child and tugging the blanket tighter around his shoulders.

Hermes opened his eyes at the sudden chill. Something was wrong. He sat up and crawled out of Aiden's hold, hissing silently and fluttering into the air.
