"I can think of a few things..." The devil hissed.

"S-sir?" Germain suddenly spoke up. "Perhaps you should re-evaluate this? I know Bruce broke a rule and I know that usually is a big no-no, but he's willing to make amends I guess?"
"Is he genuinely sorry? Or is he sorry because he got caught?"
"Sir, forgive me for saying this, but that is a very Atreyu-like respon--" That got Miles VERY angry VERY quickly.
"What did you say?"
"Telling someone you're willing to give them a second chance and then pulling the rug out from under them is something your father would do, Miles."
"....." Suddenly, Germain was against the wall and Miles's right hand was around his throat. "I AM NOT MY FATHER'S SON, TALBAIN! YOU WILL BE WISE TO REMEMBER THAT!"
"Y-yessir! But think about it will ya?!"

"Jesus!" Bruce ran over to the two, grabbed Miles's shoulders, and tried to pull him away. Tepeyollotl snaked between the two men, buying Germain some space. "Lay off him, damn it!" the wanderer cried.

It was then that Miles realized that Germain had a point. This was a move his father woulda done - give a man a 'second chance' only to throw him back into the fire. Although unmoved by the combined effort of Bruce and Tepe, Miles let go when he came to that conclusion. He adjusted his coat calmly and walked back to his desk.
Germain simply rubbed his throat.

Bruce put a soothing hand on Germain's shoulder, his face etched with concern. "You okay?"

Babylon was either unimpressed by the display or he was all too used to seeing it, as he didn't have much of a reaction. He was not so willing to give the man and his chimera a second chance, and it was obvious in his expression. He was not constrained by the term 'just like your father', nor would he care about it.

"I'm fine." Germain smiled.

"Nothing a little angel won't fix."
The devil was... bitter.

"At this point, I'm not surprised to hear that angels live in this freakin' city." Bruce collected Tepeyollotl into his arms -- the chimera flowed through his limbs like syrup. "Well, gentlemen, I've had an exciting night, and I'm sure you have too, so why don't we call it a day? I'm going to start searching tomorrow...if you have any ideas, I'd love to hear 'em."

"....as you mortals call it, it would be a needle in a haystack search since you never told us exactly what we should be looking out for." Miles spoke plainly. "But as you wish."

"It'll give me a reason to come back tomorrow." Bruce reached to tip an imaginary hat. "Good night, gentlemen." On his way out, he gently took Germain's shoulder again. "You sure you all right? That looked like it hurt."

Germain said; "What hurts more is tea without cream. This? Is nothing. Time feels no pain."

"Uh, okaaay." Bruce clapped him on the shoulder again. "Later, gents." With that, he left.
