"You're cute, but you're not getting a free drink."
"Mrowr!" Schrodinger flew to the ceiling, all poofy-tailed.
Germain had to laugh at that.
"That's not funny, sir! Need I remind you that I am a Paradox of exceptional taste and why is that coat moving!?" Schrodinger hissed.

Bruce didn't even blink at the talking cat. He'd seen weirder things. "Just let him get a good smell, and start running if he starts drooling. Don't worry, he'll ask permission before he eats you." He turned to Germain. "How do I meet Miles?"

"EAT ME!?" Schrodinger howled.
"He should be upstairs in the VIP room. Should I escort you up to see him?"

"You can escort me anywhere you'd like, my friend." Bruce finished off his beer, got up, and reeled in the bottom of his trench coat. "C'mon, Tepe! You can play with the cat later!"
The chimera seemed disappointed, trying to hang on as long as it could. It settled for giving Schrodinger's face a lick with its tongue before retreating back to Bruce.

Germain escorted Bruce and his magical coat to the VIP room. He knocked on the door and then opened it. "Sir? Someone's here to see you."
"Let him in." Miles had his back to the door, he was petting the blue rat.

Bruce swaggered into the room, his ego still inflated from Germain's earlier compliment. He always had a feeling he was cute, but it was good to get confirmation once in a while.
"Hey there! I heard that freaks are supposed to report here for duty!"

With that comment, Germain's face dropped and he shook his head. Miles turned around in his chair and faced Bruce. The blue rat hissed at him.

Bruce drew a sharp breath, recoiling backwards. A scowl cracked his features. Tepeyollotl leaped from his body to reshape into its usual form, growling lowly at Miles.
"You again! Is this some kind of joke?"

Babylon hissed as well, looking displeased with the two all too-familiar auras that stepped in. He folded his arms, his eyes narrowed, tail flicking back and forth.

"You intruding on my domain, breaking my basic rules and then claiming ignorance is a joke. You got off easy." Miles sneered.

Bruce quivered with anger, but the pain in his nose kept his temper in check. "Look. I think we started off on the wrong foot. Why don't we forget all that happened, and we pretend that we just met? Let bygones be bygones." He glanced at the horned devil. "Goes for you too."

Miles sat back in his seat, still petting the uneasy blue rat.

Babylon was not pleased.
"A good devil never forgets. And I have no intention of just letting this go." He growled. "You broke the rules, and assaulted one of the city's higher-ups. You're lucky that Miles didn't smite you outright."
