{continued from Snakeskin in the Kaledioscape Cocktail Bar}It was a long drive back to the small, government funded flat, one that Aiden couldn't help but find nerve-wracking, every stray sound and motion sending his anxiety spiking. By the time it was over, it was all he could do to follow Don inside and flop down onto his bed, twisting into the messy clump of pillows and blankets until he all but disappeared from sight. He felt so stupid, being so scared of a goddamn bird he hadn't even been able to think of anything else but running. Slithering. Whatever. Aiden exhaled a tired sigh, pulling the edge of a blanket further over his head.

Well...
He had been asleep.
Hermes looked up with a silent squeak when Aiden landed on top of him, fortunately he was well cushioned for it to break him, but he still wriggled, his little legs flailing out and little feathers flapping, one of his little wings still bandaged and in a splint, taped to his leg.

The naga stiffened, having forgotten about his little friend, and swiftly rolling to the side so as not to squish the bird-child. He tried not to look at those fluttering wings, a tremor of fear going down his long spine at the sound alone. "S-Sorry, Hermes..." And here he was just wanting to curl up and die from embarrassment...

Hermes blinked at him, hearing terror in his voice.
The bird child sat up, scooting over to Aiden and folding his wings - snuggling up to him in an attempt to offer support. He pulled a blanket over those long coils, curling against the cold skin with a silent purr before looking up with bright eyes, tracing little circles on the scales.

Aiden gave a soft, rather strained chuckle. "Am I that obvious?" He lay back, rubbing a hand over his eyes and grimacing when he felt dampness against his scales. Damn it, he was crying, wasn't he. "Fuck all..."

Hermes looked so worried, scooting over to him and wrapping his frail little arms around his torso, snuggling at him in an attempt to make him feel better.

The half-snake hesitated, but eventually returned the gentle embrace, head resting atop the winged boy's silver-blonde hair. "I- 'm s-sorry, 'm just bein' s-stupid..." He tried to hold the tears back, even as he curled up around that small warm body, needing the comfort his friend offered.

The little bird just shook his head, snuggling up as close as he could get. He would be there, he could be helpful somehow.

Aiden found he was trembling, and as he tried to take a deep breath to calm himself, it caught in his throat. Before he even realized what was going on, he'd already broken down, sobbing quietly as he clung desperately to the little bird child. "F-Fuckin' h-hell..."

Hermes wished he could talk.
He wished he could tell Aiden that it would be alright. He desperately wanted it all to be ok. He stroked Aiden's back, his delicate fingers going up and down his back as he babbled mindlessly and soundlessly, wanting to do anything to make it ok.

The naga just cried, clinging tightly to his friend. He'd been so scared, terrified that the bird-woman would lash out with those long claws and hooked beak, tear into him until he couldn't fight back any more and devoured what remained of his life. It was a vivid and terrifying idea, despite the fact that it was ludicrous at best, especially considering the fact that his scales had deflected small caliber hand guns before and allowed him to survive an explosion. But still... He shuddered, whimpering as he hid his face in the bird-child's hair.

Hermes just held him close, doing his best to just be supportive. It was all he could do and no more.

It was more than enough, really, just having someone there who actually cared about him as a person instead of a paycheck. Wasn't like the goddamn bodyguards really gave a damn... By the time Aiden finally managed to get himself under control again, several minutes had passed and he was exhausted. The naga sniffled a little, a hand lifting to rub at his eyes. "Bloody hell..."

Hermes pet him gently before hopping away to ready a little nest just for Aiden. He pat the pillows, readying a blanket for him.

The naga gave a soft laugh, sitting up from the messy and now slightly damp nest to follow his friend. He paused a moment, then hugged the bird child. "Thanks."
