"I can assure you, I run a tighter ship than my nephew."
Coraline rose from her chair, striding over to the windows with her hands tucked behind her back.
"I will have no assassination attempts on citizens of my city, by god or man or megacorp." She said assuredly, looking over her shoulder, her eyes looking past the bodyguard at Aiden. Her eyes narrowed briefly.

The naga calmed slightly when the woman stepped away from Don, but when she turned and /looked/ at him, predator to prospective prey, it proved too much for his reptilian instincts to take. He jerked back as though struck, rattle buzzing as he seemed to arch up off the floor, hissing once more as his mouth opened, jaw distending to bare 4 inch fangs that clicked neatly into place where a human's canine teeth would lie. Despite the display, it was little more than a cover so the half-snake could uncoil his long tail and move back into the hall proper, just far enough to get into a better position to flee. Don scrambled to follow, caught off guard by his ward's sudden speed. "Aiden!"

Coraline simply let them go. Her point had been made.

It was the stairs that eventually stopped the panicked naga, the steep steps far too difficult to navigate on his own. Unable to go any further, Aiden found himself curling up into a tight knot at the top of the stairs, his tail moving to protect his more vulnerable upper body. Seeing the shivering coiled mass of scales, Don took great care in his approach, crouching just a little out of arm's reach. "Aiden?" The naga whimpered, trying to curl up tighter. The bodyguard sighed, inching a bit closer. "Aiden, it's me, Don. It's alright, Aiden, Miss Coraline isn't going to hurt you..." It would take several minutes for the snake-man to finally calm down enough to unfurl from his armored ball, swallowing hard to forcefully retract his fangs. "C-Can we go h-home now?" "Of course." The bodyguard gently helped the naga upright, knowing it would take some time for his ward to return to his normal self. {continued in Orthinophobia}
